6 ingredient marinara sauce that can be whipped up in a hurry with the ingredients found in your pantry!
Somedays I feel like I all I want to eat is something homemade and quick….and delicious and easy to clean up…and if i make enough, can also freeze in the freezer for another day…is that too much to ask for? I mean, ideally. That’s it.
So this is one of those recipes, the “I want to walk in the kitchen, throw everything in a large pot and a spaghetti squash in the oven” and have dinner 30 min later.
INGREDIENTS:
- BLENDTEC BLENDER or IMMERSION BLENDER
- any blender will work
- or an immersion blender
- CAN OF WHOLE TOMATOES
- choose WHOLE tomatoes instead of diced.
- WHY you ask?? Because who knows if in the DICED canned of tomatoes, they used the bruised, old, and bad tomatoes because they knew they were going to be diced and No one would know what the WHOLE tomato looked like.
- You can use a specific spice, but I would recommend italian
- choose WHOLE tomatoes instead of diced.
- GARLIC
- I like the Dorot from Trader Joe’s. It’s just so easy! They come in easy cubes and you just pop them in. No smelly fingers ever again!
- SHALLOTS
- Or course shallots work best, but I frequently use any kind of onion I have on hand
- FRESH HERBS
- Parsley & basil
- Enough said. They have got to be fresh and you WON’T regret it. And if you need to know how to cut them….i’ve got the answer HERE. Therefore NOTHING can stand in your way.
- But you can use the dried if you must:)
- SALT
- PEPPER
- BUTTER
- optional. It makes it more creamy but you can leave it out if you need it to be vegan.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER:
#1: Saute the shallots + garlic with the olive oil until fragrant.
#2: Add the canned tomatoes and fresh herbs.
#3: Simmer for 30 ish min.
-If you want…while this simmers make these Prosciutto wrapped Eggplants to go with the sauce. You won’t regret making them. They are so delicious, make a great leftover and a healthy second to Eggplant Parmigiana.
