Fresh, citrus orange ice cream? in 20 min? with no refined white granulated sugar? Yes sirreeeee! Made with low fat milk, cream, honey and sweet fresh navel oranges.

Fresh Orange Honey Ice Cream recipe in 20 min. Derived from fresh oranges straight from the desert (called Arizona) and sweetened with honey in place of refined sugar.

The citrus in AZ will infiltrate your taste buds even if (heaven forbid) you don’t get the pleasure of partaking of the fruit. The citrus just permeates the air! Its magical. And thanks to our wonderful mother in AZ, we get boxes of these sent RIGHT. TO. OUR. DOOR!!! Everyone needs a mother like this. Her name is Denise, and if you can contact her, I know she’ll send some your way:)

Fast Forward a few boxes…

In our 3rd box, we (my children and I) decided to get crazy with the large box. We had already enjoyed them with smoothies, like this one…on our salads, like this one….and in a reg fruit salad….which translates to enjoying them for breakfast, lunch, dinner. The only obvious category left was dessert! Easy peasy. Ice cream it is!

But not the regular ice cream with white sugar. (which don’t sell yo’self short. it is delicious as well. Like this one.) We were looking for a twist. Or I was. SO, I used honey. (I say we because I’m never alone. I’ve got chefs at every angle. Luckily…Sometimes:)

So-with

  1. honey
  2. fresh oranges
  3. real cream
  4. milk
  5. a splash of vanilla

= you’ve got yourself some darn, good (refined sugar free) orange honey ice cream in 20 min.

The ironic thing is…this ice cream was made with a fallen-out-of-a-closet ice cream maker! Our outer plastic shealth this broke ha! So I taped some paper on the outside and place a bowl over the top to keep it extra cold! Still works. yes.

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juiceĀ

Instructions

  2. Blend orange segments to make the puree
  3. Add all other ingredients and blend until well combined!
  4. Remove frozen ice cream canister and IMMEDIATELY place on machine. Turn on and while running, pour ice cream mixture in.
  5. Let freeze for 20 min or until the ice cream is no longer churning.

Notes

* I have used both reduced fat milk and whole milk. Obviously whole milk is creamier, however it is too heavy for my liking which is why I stick with either reduced fat or low fat.
