Making your own Baked Parmesan Cheese crisps/Whisps are as easy as dumping on the cheese and baking it for 3-5 min. The end.
The recent kick for “low carb and higher fat” has brought on the whole “eat cheese” fad. And there is something to it. Not only do these Baked Parmesan Cheese Whisps/crisps have ZERO carbs but they are also high in protein.
PROs and CONs of a cheese crisp…for every 23 you toss in your mouth:)
WAYS TO USE ENJOY THEM:
- On a salad in place of Croutons
- Paired with an apple instead of the soft unbaked version…for a change
- As a high protein, low carb snack
- Paired with crackers or veggies
PROs
- 18 grams of protein
- gluten free
- negligible amounts of lactose so…consider it LACTOSE FREE.
- low carb
- zero sugar
- high in calcium
CONs
- 7 grams of saturated fat
- you must control your handful upon handful indulgences
Personally for me, these cheese crisps are a good addition to an apple or on top of a salad or to give to my child instead of an old white Wheat Thin cracker [which carries ZERO nutritional value].
INGREDIENTS:
- Parmesan cheese [I like to use the Costco version…it’s huge- which is perfect] And it is cheaper than purchasing the packages.
-other hard cheeses will work also such as white cheddar or yellow cheddar
STEPS:
#1: Prepare pan with parchment paper for easiest removal of your cheese crisps. Tinfoil tends to be messier depending on the strength and thickness of your tinfoil.
#2: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and bake for 3-5 min. Also dependant on the thickness of your cheese. If it is in little circles like shown in the video, then 3 min is plenty. However, if you like them a little bit thicker or crunchier then go for the 5 min end. The sky is the limit on your crisps.
- The perfect dosage is 1 Tablespoon full. You can dump it in a circle cookie cutter for ease.
