The perfect Green Smoothie made green with handfuls of organic spinach + fresh mango + apple + lemon + carrots + pineapple.
Jude is so proud to say he has invented his own recipe. And he tells it to all who will listen. And asks me to make it often. I will say, with the help of brady—who is the smoothie master, it has been perfected.
My favorite thing about ‘his ‘recipe is the fact that it doesn’t have almond milk OR a banana. [if you are looking for a more creamy smoothie made with yogurt and unsweetened almond milk try this one! Or….if you have a daugther or son who are wishing for any smoothie BUT a green one- I get it. You can try our Watermelon Mint one. ]
—-Sometimes with almond milk, however, and/or bananas it is a little too creamy. Sometimes I like something a little more icey without the banana creamy-ness. So here it is!
Also, it has handfuls of spinach and carrots yet doesn’t taste like it:) A plus in every mother’s eye because every child likes it:)
Rules for the perfect smoothie:
#1: Always use a blendtec
–full disclosure: I do not get paid for promoting them. I just honestly think their blender is the best!
#2: Add the liquid first
#3: Add spinach next
–since spinach has no weight to it, it can get stuck at the top and it will take longer to mix in. You know when you have to stop the blender and push it down with a utensil? The worst. You are 98% less likely to have to do that if you put in the spinach at the beginning
#4: Add the fresh (non-frozen) fruit
#5: Finally, add the frozen fruit
–the frozen fruit is the heaviest and will help push down all the other ingredients. Helping your blender to blend quickly and without having to stop it as much.
INGREDIENTS:
- Spinach (choose organic if you can!)
- Apple (peel it and the smoothie will be less grainy)
- Mango
- Pineapple
- Carrots (jude says 5 in his video but you can use more like 8:))
- Lemon/lime
- Ice/water
Weekly wisdom: St. Patty’s Day Green Machine Smoothie
Spinach + apple + mango + pineapple + carrots + lemon = the only green smoothie to be drunk on St. Patty’s day.
- Prep Time: 5 min
- Total Time: 10 min
- Yield: 3 cups 1x
- Category: Smoothie
- Method: Blendtec
- Cuisine: Smoothie
- Diet: Vegetarian
Ingredients
- 2 handfuls organic spinach
- 1 small apple, [peeled and sliced]
- 1/2 cup mango [fresh or frozen]
- 1/2 cup pineapple {fresh or frozen}
- 5 carrots
- Juice of a lemon/lime
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Add water to blender followed by the spinach.
- Add fresh fruit and/or frozen fruit.
- Blend until combined!
Notes
*Always add liquid and spinach first, heavy things on the top!
*If you like a smoothie on the more frozen side…I would suggest blending the fruits and water first and then adding the ice. That way you don’t accidentally blend it too much to the point of it becoming a liquid.
